Summary:
- Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies for the organization.
- Responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the Company's needs for indirect materials and services, fixed assets and tooling, and production materials and services. These products and services are to be secured at cost, quality, and delivery competitive levels consistent with Company policy and performance standards. The position is responsible for the timely planning, scheduling of receipt and inventory control of the products and services as assigned consistent with MAPICS requirements or as appropriately concluded with a requisitioner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Negotiates with vendors for all materials, supplies, equipment and services
- Maintains purchasing policies and ensures compliance
- Coordinates with supply chain manager on approving new suppliers
- Negotiates blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitors cost during the time period
- Adheres to documented ISO 9000-2000 policies and procedures
- Tracks supplier performance related to defined quality metrics
- Follows environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with U.S. laws/ government regulations
- Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics
- Prepares and issues purchase orders, change notices, and engineering change orders
- Supports production plan with accurate, on time delivery of necessary materials
- Develops schedules to establish sequence and timeframe of manufacturing operations in order to meet production requirements
- Reviews sales orders, shipping needs, plant capacity, and inventory before developing schedules
- Manages inventory transactions for production material from stock, work in process and finish goods
- Hands on individual contributor with supervisory potential
- Actively interfaces with customer service and technical service
- Actively interfaces with engineering on new product development and commercial introduction
- Arranges for disposal of surplus materials
- Other duties may be added while performing in this role
- 5+ years of procurement experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- ERP systems knowledge
- Experience in production material planning
- Experience in new product development
- ERP/MRP system implementation experience
- APICS certification
- EPICOR/Vantage experience
