Position Title: Chemical Engineer
Reports To: Manager of Electrochemical Research
Location: Wallingford, CT
Position Summary:
The Hydrogen Technology Group of Proton Energy Systems, a Distributed Energy Systems company, seeks an experienced, dynamic candidate to join our growing team that is developing the next generation of on-site, hydrogen production technology. Our varied, exciting, and cutting edge markets include Hydrogen Fueling Systems, Regenerative Fuel Cell backup power systems for telecommunications and Military/Aerospace applications. These applications offer a rich opportunity for innovation and technology advancement. The ideal candidate will enthusiastically embrace this challenge, conducting research to support the development of electrochemical products by directing and coordinating activities involved in the characterization, operation, and repair of electrochemical components and systems.
Responsibilities:
• Plan and conduct complex research experiments to test, prove, or modify theoretical hypotheses based on findings and experiences of others researching in related technical areas.
• Develop electrochemical test cells and bench testing protocol for fundamental characterization of catalyst and membrane materials.
• Communicate effectively with other engineers and keep items concurrently organized with rest of research and development efforts.
• Work across engineering and manufacturing departments to support product engineering and product manufacturing.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Five years experience
• Experience working with electrocatalysts and proton conducting membranes
• Motivated self-starter; team player with a desire to learn
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to balance multiple tasks.
Education and/or Experience:
BS in Chemistry/Chemical/Electrochemical Engineering, MS and/or PhD preferred.
