Electrical Technician/ Controls

Position Title:              Electrical Technician/ Controls
Department:                Technical Service
Reports To:                  Director, Technical Service

Position Summary:

An immediate opportunity exists for a candidate experienced in supporting electromechanical equipment with a strong electrical and controls background. This position will entail inside technical support, writing technical instructions, revising technical documents, traveling to customer sites and interfacing directly with the end customer. This individual will also interface with engineering and manufacturing to resolve equipment issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electromechanical equipment at the factory and/or at customer locations worldwide.
  • Interface directly with customers on the phone and in person to resolve equipment issues.
  • Provide training on operation and maintenance of our equipment to customers and external service providers.
  • Improve and update equipment documentation.
  • Diagnose and quote customers replacement parts.
  • Interface with engineering to help determine root cause and corrective action on field failures as required.  

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years demonstrated, hands-on experience in electromechanical equipment repair, including the ability to read and translate wiring diagrams/schematics and fluid process diagrams.
  • Experience in the area of software and controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Experience working directly with external customers in a support role.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and support both in-person and via the telephone.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Additional Skills/Requirements Needed:

  • Basic computer skills required
  • Good communication  and presentation skills
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Self starter and motivated
  • Strong writing skills
  • Up to 50% worldwide travel anticipated
  • A passport is required for international travel

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associates degree in related field preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of 2 years experience required
