Summary:
Distributed Energy Systems Corp. (DESC) supplies a wide variety of Distributed Generation power systems and related assemblies to commercial, industrial, and government customers. We are currently hiring an Operations & Maintenance Service Technician to support our San Francisco Bay area customers. The work will include field service work of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on distributed generation projects. It will be based upon a 5-day workweek with scheduled maintenance done off electrical peak hours. However, Technicians are responsible for generators that run continuously, so must be available for on-call duty 24/7. DESC will provide job-specific training to the right candidate who already possesses the basic qualifications.
Responsibilities:
- Service reciprocating industrial gas engines and all ancillary equipment including Balance of plant, controls and monitoring systems
- Monitor existing distributed generation assets in San Francisco Bay area and provide complete operational and technical support
- Work with clients to maintain high quality services and equipment maintenance
- Work with customers to maximize availability and equipment uptime
- Provide multi-level services of design, construction, operations and maintenance
- Communicate with the office to receive work assignments, technical support and maintain proper information flow
- Provide light construction support for site enhancements, upgrades and customer requested repairs
- Ensure that as-built project is compliant with drawings and specifications
- Provide Start-up, commissioning and as-built drawings for new project support
- Generate daily, weekly reports and maintenance logs
- Provide predictive and preventative maintenance schedules to maximize customers equipment up-time
- A minimum of three years of hands on field service or workshop experience servicing, rebuilding and operating large industrial reciprocating engines (>500 Hp).
- Understanding of basic engine and generator theory
- Familiarity with low voltage electrical distribution and production systems
- Familiarity with industrial instrumentation and control systems
- Must posses strong troubleshooting skills
- Good working knowledge of personal computers, including standard Windows XP, MS Office (Excel, Word,Outlook, etc)
- Excellent communication skills and proven customer relation skills
- Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain a service truck, including tools and instruments, as well as manage a spare parts inventory
- Must be available for on-call duty 24/7
- Must be a self-starter, able to work unsupervised
- Must have current valid drivers license
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
- Factory trained and certified mechanic by at least one major reciprocating engine manufacturer
- Experience with Waukesha engines
